Summary of Position

Mercer Capital is seeking an experienced business valuation professional to perform and oversee valuation consulting projects in our Dallas office.

Mercer Capital is an employee-owned independent business valuation and financial advisory firm. Our clients include private and public operating companies, financial institutions, asset holding companies, high-net worth families, and private equity/hedge funds. We provide valuations for tax planning, financial reporting, litigation support, and corporate advisory services. The firm provides more than 500 valuation opinions annually to clients throughout the U.S. and in Europe, Canada, Central America, South America, and Mexico.

Effective candidates will be tasked with running valuation engagements from start to finish, communicating directly with clients, generating methodology and analytical recommendations, producing work product, oversight of junior staff on assignments, practice development, and training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the valuations of ownership interests in private and public companies, intangible assets, and financial instruments, for purposes of gift and estate taxes, buy-sell agreements, ESOPs, mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, litigation and domestic matters.
  • Manage all aspects of active client engagements from start to finish
  • Prepare business valuations including information gathering, due diligence, financial modeling, and preparation of self-contained appraisal reports
  • Train and develop staff, both technically and professionally
  • Review staff work and provide feedback

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of experience doing business valuations
  • ASA, CFA, ABV or other related designation preferred
  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
  • Ability to work on multiple engagements concurrently
  • Database experience with Capital IQ, Mergerstat, other transaction databases a plus
  • Ability to organize data, analyze financial information, and handle client communications
  • Strong written communication skills with proficiency in preparing comprehensive reports for client use
  • Contribute thought leadership
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
