Z. Christopher Mercer, FASA, CFA, ABAR and Travis W. Harms, CFA, CPA/ABV are speakers at the upcoming 2022 ASA International Conference of the American Society of Appraisers in Tampa, Florida on September 11th and 12th, respectively. Per the conference website, “Celebrating its 85th year, the 2022 ASA International Conference provides an experience unlike other appraisal conferences, offering timely content for all appraisal professionals.”
Chris will co-present with Jay Fishman, FASA on the topic of “What it Takes to be a Growing Professional.” Both Chris and Jay will share their decades of experience and their development techniques. It will be a fun session.
Travis will cover “Everything You Wanted to Know About Fair Market Value and Were Afraid to Ask.” Travis is always a popular speaker and has the ability to turn a technical or dry topic into something both thought-provoking and interesting.
Chris Mercer is the Chairman of Mercer Capital. He began his valuation career in the late 1970s. He has prepared, overseen, or contributed to hundreds of valuations for purposes related to tax, ESOPs, buy-sell agreements, and litigation, among others. In addition, he has served on the boards of directors of several private companies and one public company. He enjoys working with business owners to address ownership transition issues.
Travis Harms leads Mercer Capital’s Family Business Advisory Services Group. His practice focuses on providing financial education, valuation, and other strategic financial consulting to multi-generation family businesses. The Family Business Advisory Services Group helps family shareholders, boards, and management teams align their perspectives on the financial realities, needs, and opportunities of the business. Additionally, Travis is a regular contributor to Mercer Capital’s blog, Family Business Director.
Chris and Travis are co-authors of the book Business Valuation: An Integrated Theory, Third Edition (2020, Wiley Finance).
