Scott Womack, ASA, MAFF will present “Business Valuations in Litigation: A Guide for Attorneys” to both the Nashville Bar Association (February 28, 2022) and the Williamson County Bar Association (March 4, 2022).
This presentation will highlight the basic valuation equation, discuss the broad approaches to valuation, demonstrate how valuation assumptions can influence valuation conclusions, and identify some of the basic flaws that might exist when comparing valuation reports of opposing experts.
The Nashville Bar Association was established in 1831. This association is a professional organization serving the legal community of Nashville, Tennessee. The NBA—with over 2,500 members—is the largest metropolitan bar association in Tennessee.
The Williamson County Bar Association is a nonprofit organization whose members are licensed attorneys practicing in Williamson County, Tennessee. The association serves as a resource for practicing attorneys and the public and welcomes members from across Middle Tennessee. They sponsor monthly luncheons, continuing legal education programs, pro bono events, and social opportunities for its members.
Scott leads Mercer Capital’s Litigation Group. As part of his corporate litigation practice, Scott has deep experience in family law litigation (traditional litigated divorce and collaborative divorce). He assists family law attorneys in divorce matters including business valuation, forensic accounting, and division of the marital estate, among others. Scott has testified in several jurisdictions involving family law matters. Scott is a regular contributor to Mercer Capital’s Family Law Valuation and Forensic Insights monthly newsletter.
Scott also assists estate planning attorneys throughout the nation in federal and state gift and estate tax valuation matters. In addition, he has testified in Tax Court.
